Punching machines offer a wide range of possibilities that allow the manufacturing of all kinds of parts, starting with sheets of different materials and thicknesses. Punching machines use, to do this, a set of punches and dies, with which the final piece it is manufactured. Punching tools can be classified into three groups: cutting tools, forming and bending tools and finally, special tools.
The most commonly used tools are those for cutting. Their function is to eliminate or cut material of the same geometry as the cutting tool. This geometry can be, in standard, round, square, rectangular, triangular, oblong, etc. This way, by combining different punching tools, we get the sheet cut with the desired final shape. In addition, there are tools with special shapes, which are manufactured to measure the piece to be cut. These enable the user of the punching machine to cut shapes that standard punching tools could not. As well as even reducing total manufacturing time, eliminating both machining hits and tool changes.
Punching and bending tools allow the shaping of a sheet section through impact. You get different shapes and can even bend the sheet to a certain angle. In this case, the die contains a few springs that are compressed when the punch presses the sheet and is a part of the die which shapes the plate. The height of the forming is servo electrically controlled.
Finally, there is another type of punching tools known as ‘special’, which forms the sheet in a continuous manner. The punch is kept in the working position while at the same time moving the material to deform. The commercial tools such as Rolling Offset, Rolling Pincher, Rolling Rib, Rolling Shear, SheetMarker, Rollerball, etc… belong to this group These tools are typically used to make reinforcements, to mark the sheet and an infinite number of other operations.
